Max Jerome (SteerPike) was my friend for close to 30 years. We didn't always live in the same city but we remained friends, and now that he is gone I miss him. He was a graphic artist and an accomplished musician. In 1997 Max created an html album including graphics and music called VMax Musak. He was an extremely creative guy, he always had some project in the works, either for himself or for a friend. Max was never too busy to help a friend, he always found time to make a graphic for someone's web site or create a novelty sign. He had lots of friends. Over the years Max travelled some, so his friends are spread over Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and British Columbia, with many friends on the internet from all over the world.

Max was a gamesman, back in the'70s, before PCs, we used to play chess almost daily. Then came computers and role playing games. A long way back I remember a Commodore, then an Apple II, and after that a long line of IBM PC Compatibles. Max didn't need the newest or the fastest PC, he was happy as long as it could play the latest game he wanted to play. As a matter of fact he often played games that "required" much faster hardware than he had, but he didn't mind as long as he could play. When Max got involved in playing Creatures, he created a web site called SteerPike's Curiosity Shoppe, and then later when Creatures2 came out he made a new site called SteerPike's Albian FunHouse and Pandemonium Shadow Show. In the last year before he passed away, Max spent many hours playing EverQuest, an on-line RPG game. Many of his on-line friends will know him as SteerPike a level 41 Cleric on Bertoxxulous server.
Max had an offbeat sense of humour that never ceased to amuse. He included that sense of humour in his daily life and in many of his creations. I created this memorial so everyone would get a chance to enjoy Max's work. I am proud to have known Max Jerome (SteerPike), and I know I will not be the only friend who is missing him.
